About Sonja Wilker
Inspired Living Revolution
I am hoping to usher in a new era where people no longer operate from a sense of fear, but from a place of inspiration. I would like to ignite this desire in as many people as possible so that we can make it a world-wide phenomenon.
With the workshops and training I do I am inspired to help more and more people connect to the genius within, to share our gifts without apology or reticence, but with a sense of delight and abandon, that needs no courage. To lift the injunctions of our past so that we can really, really LIVE from the bottom of our hearts.
What makes people ‘tick’ has always been my greatest fascination
I have studied psychology, alternative medicine, various therapies, and the latest brain research inter alia.
Being super practical, pragmatic and hyper-sensitive I believe I have found best practices to turn things round not at the symptomatic level, but at a much more fundamental level. Operating at source makes the transformation much more pervasive, long-lasting, and requires much less energy, willpower, tenacity, because the focus is different, more specific and exact.
I have tried many things, some worked, and some didn’t. Some worked better than others. I have studied all my life to find the things that make the difference that makes the difference. These I will share with you. I am not saying I have all the answers, but I have a lot of experience and really good ways to help you come up with the solutions you seek to get the outcomes you desire.
No people no problem, no people no solution.
My most ardent wish is to see more people operate from an inspired frame of reference rather than sabotaged by unknown, unconscious fears and inhibitions.
I have worked in, for, and with Government, a number of Corporate Companies, Non-Profits and Small Business Organisations in many diverse roles. I have worked in and/or managed Marketing (most aspects), Admin, Finances (most aspects), IT (most aspects), Fund Raising, HR, Stock Control, Logistics, Training, and others that I can’t even remember. I have spent time in the Mining, Insurance, and the Fuel industries.
My best claim to fame is that if people say it can’t be done or shouldn’t be done, I have done it.
- University of Stellenbosch (USB) – New Management Development Program (Mini MBA)
- University of South Africa (UNISA) – Dip Datametrics – Majoring in Psychology and Information Technology
Master in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Hypnotherapy
I have dabbled in various fields and made a study of some like Psychology, the latest Brain Technology, Communication, Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu, Reiki, Swedish Massage, Reflexology, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, and Sensory Acuity.
My interests have always been broad. I have a 4cm thick file of certificates from computer programming to graphic design, from Coaching to Strategies and Tactics for Effective Leadership. I have done courses on negotiation skills, communication skills, train the trainer, data and knowledge management, First Aid, Fire Fighting and many others.
I have also been range officer on a shooting range, and am quite a good shot. However, I met my nemesis trying to shoot clay pigeons.
I have, inter alia, taught art to disadvantaged learners at the Sophumelele School in Phillippi (a suburb of Cape Town), taken part in Toastmasters Junior Leader Development, trained entrepreneurial skills to school children in my free time, taught Life Skills as part of an enrichment program, and been a model at a fashion show to raise funds for the Sunshine Foundation.
I took a two year sabbatical to create the Genius Within concept and bring it to fruition.
I practice yoga, breath-work, meditation, and mindfulness. I love walking, hiking, being in nature. I am a voracious reader with a huge library of books that I have actually read (well over a 1000).
I have developed websites, blogs, studied search engine optimization and am at the moment learning about Online Marketing; my biggest challenge to date.
I am an artist and have exhibited in a number of places from Cape Town to Pretoria in South Africa (not abroad yet). My artwork has been used as examples and illustrations in books and on book covers.
Why do I want to Ignite the Genius Within?
As you know we spend more than half our waking day at work, in transit, or preparing for work. Job satisfaction affects all aspects of our lives. I would love to help more people do what they love and love what they do. (Research indicates that more than 60% are discontent with work / working conditions/ circumstances.) The more satisfaction we get from our job, vocation or profession, the more it affects all else. The happier we are at work, the happier we can be at home and the more it ripples out to everyone we come in contact with.
What effect will Genius Within have?
We are all blessed with certain gifts and talents. I would love to help more people find, cultivate and share their unique and special gifts with the world, transform dreams into reality, and find greater meaning, purpose and fulfillment.
I do not believe we are only flesh, bone and brains. So the Genius Within solution, though it makes use of the latest brain research and neuro-plasticity to affect change, it also has a spiritual aspect, call it soul if you like. I prefer not to name it, because it could then become open to misinterpretation and misrepresentation.
