There is much more to you than you can ever imagine. So much goes on within you without your conscious knowledge (Academic researchers claim anything from 80 – 90% is subconscious)… and strangely enough, believe it or not, the same goes for business.

Just like in your personal space you realize but the tip of the iceberg, and so it is within an organization as well. Most of what goes on is unconscious and sub-conscious. More than 80% of what happens to you, happens in this realm.

In your personal life it is your ‘programming’, your upbringing; the rules of the family, clan, society, culture, and ethnic or other groups, as well as your circumstantial learning, the assumptions you make that determine your behavior and response to the environment and others within your environment.. Corporate culture either hinders us or motivates us
In the organization it is the culture, subculture, ethos, the unspoken rules, and subtle hints at codes of permissible and in-permissible conduct that gets filtered down the ranks or ‘pecking order’ that determines the outcome, i.e. what actually gets done and what not, and how people react to or respond to each other.
In all cases (organizational and personal) it is quite difficult to see the wood for the trees when you’re ‘in it’. It often takes someone un-involved, from the outside, to recognize what is going on.

So what’s this got to do with Genius Within?
Bite you in the butt…
In business, as in one’s personal life; the things you are not aware of get to bite you in the butt; what you are unaware of in life, and in business, set you up with the most dangerous, insidious, and undermining challenges.
How far removed?
In my experience management are often removed from the day to day reality at ground level and fairly out of touch with their subordinates and don’t really know what their colleagues are up to.
The kings of yore
In ancient times, enlightened kings, instead of sitting in palaces, would go out, in disguise among the people to see personally what problems the people had, what ailed them, what aspirations they had, and so on… What we will be doing is to become the eyes and ears of management among the workers to find out what is going on in the hearts and minds of your employees; i.e. go beneath surface appearances.
Hidden, untapped potential lying dormant
Just like there are things we don’t know or don’t really want to know, there is also a huge untapped potential below the surface that can be accessed, if you know how. This can be used to your benefit, personally as well as for your business, company, organization, clan, family, community, group, or other collective… even for the planet.
Like seeds, we all need the right conditions to sprout and flourish.
You can either grow weeds, or a fruitful crop.
